One of the most common failure points on all Polaris RZR turbo & XP 1000 engine platforms is the factory self-adjusting timing chain tensioner. When timing chain tensioner failures happen and aren't caught in time, they typically self-destruct and cause total engine failure. Loose timing chains will saw into the engine case and jump teeth on the cam gears quickly leading to total destruction of the engine.

TPR's manual tensioner has been proven for years now in all forms and conditions from recreational desert riding to all the major desert racing series and big BAJA races with zero failures.

This part is super easy to maintain with only the loosen of a nut and turn of a knob (can even be done while engine is running) while only needing attention every 500-750 miles depending how heavy your foot is on the gas pedal!

The tensioner body and turning knob are made from 6061 billet aluminum. The internals are made from 17-4 stainless steel.

Stainless steel ARP bolts are included.

All designed, machined and assembled 100% in house.

Fits Polaris models -

  • XP1000 (17-up)
  • XPTurbo (16-up)
  • XPTurbo-S
  • Pro XP
  • Pro S
  • Turbo R
  • Xpedition
  • RS1
  • XP900 (17-up)
  • Ranger
  • Early 2017 XP1000 model RZR’s may have a screw in style tensioner. Please check which style your car has before ordering. Early style screw in tensioners are also available on our site - TPR001E

Preparing your Engine or Transmission for Shipping.

Preparing your Engine for Shipping.

Once you have pulled your engine out of your machine its time to get it ready to ship to us.

  1. Remove as much as you are comfortable with.  Remove all hoses, oil cooler, and oil filter. If you have a turbo engine remove the turbo and header.
  2. We need you to ship the side cover that covers the stator assembly. We will need that to make sure it matches the rest of your engine when we soda blast and paint it. We understand not everyone has the abilities to pull the flywheel and stator assemblies. Not a problem. You can leave all that on. But if you pull it, pull the stator out of the side cover and ship us the cover.
  3. We will provide you with all the gaskets and seals you need to re-assemble everything.
  4. We ask you try to get as much oil out of the engine as you can.
  5. Once that's all complete please double wrap your engine with at least 2 trash bags to help keep any left over oil in the bags as possible. No matter how much oil you get out there's always more.
  6. Locate a good heavy duty box or tote that allows enough room for protective packing materials around all 6 sides.
  7. Package up your engine making sure it's safe and secure.
  8. Apply the pre-paid shipping label provided from us to the top and drop it off at your local shipping location.
